USHERS
MAIN GOAL
To go above and beyond to serve our guests by providing personal assistance and functional support.
Our ushers are a long time staple here at Christ the Redeemer, and they provide an invaluable service to all of our weekend guests. Ushers assist the other Guest Services teams in welcoming people and personally hand our guests a bulletin. Additionally, our ushers provide functional support as they pass the collection baskets during the offertory.
MAIN TASK
To joyfully serve our guests.
Yes. It really is that simple.
RESPONSIBILITIES
All teams who assist us in serving on Sundays have some simple responsibilities.
Here are the responsibilities of our Ushers.
BE OPEN & AVAILABLE TO THE HOLY SPIRIT
Ultimately, we know that people have not come to Church for us. They are here because God has called them and because they desire to experience and encounter Him. So we ask our volunteers to remain open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
SMILE
You would be amazing at the what just a simply smile can do to someone's day. It can change their outlook, their perception.
It can make a lonely day seem not so lonely. There is power in a smile.
GREET ALL GUESTS WITH JOY
We encourage all of our volunteers to be joyful. In The Joy of the Gospel, Pope Francis's first sentence is as follows: "The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus."
OPEN INTERIOR CHURCH DOORS AND INITIATE THE WELCOME
When possible, our ushers greet our guests joining us on the weekend.
PASS COLLECTION BASKETS
At each Mass, our ushers pass our collection baskets during the offertory.
PRAY FOR OUR PRIESTS
We can never under estimate the power of our prayer. All who volunteer as ushers are asked to offer up prayers especially for our priests.
WE ARE HERE FOR YOU.
