Come and venerate the official relics of Saint Padre` Pio of Pietrelcina.
A Mass in honor of Saint Padre` Pio will be celebrated at 12:05 P.M.
Evening Prayer will be held at 8:00 P.M.
The word veneration means to bring respect, in this case to the relics of Padre` Pio. This can be performed in every part of the church, such as kneeling in a pew. Your prayers should be offered in the closest proximity to the relics, so we invite you to spend time in the church to venerate the relic properly and to ask for Padre` Pio’s intercession. You will have the opportunity to touch the reliquaries not only to establish a connection between yourself and Padre` Pio but also to bring your devotional or religious items in contact with the reliquaries so that the items become third-class relics.
If the line of the faithful is long, you might be asked to touch only one of the relics whether by hand or with a religious article. In addition, two or more faithful at any time may be allowed to touch a single relic so that all those attending the opportunity to touch the relics of Padre` Pio.
It’s important to remember that the relic can be touched in the glass case or on the wooden body it is enclosed in. In order to preserve the Bishop’s Seal, the faithful are not allowed to pick up, hold, or kiss any of the reliquaries.
A prayer intention gives the faithful the opportunity to offer a prayer petition that will be offered at a Mass in honor of Padre` Pio held during the tour of his relics. These will be placed in one of the baskets near the relics of Padre` Pio.
